Cooking on the road is part of the joy of traveling in your recreational vehicle, but the smaller size of your RV’s kitchen may hamper you to some degree. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to optimize your RV kitchen’s organizational systems and make it easy to find the ingredients and cookware you need to prepare your meals with no fuss and little mess.

Use Modular Storage Containers

To keep pantry staples accessible and fresh and easy to find, store them in clear plastic containers that are square in shape so that they fit easily next to each other on a shelf or in a cabinet. These containers are excellent for dry goods such as oatmeal, pasta, rice, and other grains, as well as breakfast cereals, snack mixes, crackers, and cookies. Pests are less likely to be able to infest a secure plastic container than they are a bag or a box, too.

Get a French Press

A standard coffee maker takes up a fair bit of countertop space, which is already at a premium in your RV. Instead, you may want to have an electric kettle or a stovetop kettle and a French press to make your morning coffee. French presses are easy to clean, quick to use, and compact enough to fit in a cabinet.

Choose Stackable Cookware

You’ll likely need several pieces of cookware to fix your meals, including plenty of bowls and spoons. Look for measuring cups, bowls, and pots that can easily fit into one another, as this will save you a lot of space in your RV’s kitchen.
