How to Pack For RV Camping Trips
Whether you’re new to the world of RVing or you’re thinking about getting an RV, you’re probably excited about the idea of taking trips in it. Along with excitement for your first trip, it’s important to take time to prepare for the journey as well. Here are some things to make sure you have in your RV before you depart on your first adventure.
Essential Gear
For your RV to function properly, you’ll need some special accessories, including:
- Sewer hoses and a freshwater tank hose
- A water-pressure regulator
- A surge protector
- Leveling blocks or chocks to get your RV stabilized at the campsite
- Flashlights
- Fire extinguishers
- Radio
- First-aid kit (this should have bandages, ointments, painkillers, tweezers, nail clippers, gauze, scissors, and anything else you think your family might need)
- Repair kit (include items like wrenches, screwdrivers, duct tape, twine, pliers, and a hammer so you can fix up your RV on the road)
Kitchen Necessities
In the kitchen, you want items that won’t break and will store easily and compactly. Any item that can serve another purpose is also good. Some suggestions:
- Nesting mixing bowls
- Cast-iron skillet (can be used in the oven or on the stove)
- Slow cooker
- A good set of knives
- Basic spices and condiments (salt, pepper, a seasoning blend, garlic powder, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, relish)
Linens & Towels
All the beds in your RV will need clean sheets and blankets, as well as pillows with pillowcases. If you’re going on a longer trip, you may want to pack a change of sheets for everyone. You’ll also want to have sufficient hand towels, washcloths, beach towels, and bath towels for the trip; packing extras is always a good idea.
